AEP Texas Energy Efficiency Programs
AEP Texas provides energy efficiency programs to residential customers within its service area. The goal is to reduce the amount of energy consumed by customers by installing energy-efficient products and services, including home weatherization. The program has a limited budget so the services are limited to those that qualify.
The program is developed for household residents with an annual income of 200% or below the federal poverty guidelines. Qualified applicants will receive energy-efficient products or services designed to help reduce overall energy consumption. The maximum expenditure per household is limited to $6,500.
The program helps AEP Texas residents generate a portion of their power from renewable energy sources. Solar is considered a cleaner source of energy and environmentally friendly compared to conventional methods of power generation such as coal and oil. Qualified applicants will receive a financial incentive to help offset the initial costs of installing a solar electric system.
The program was designed to give contractors an incentive to participate in the installation of energy efficiency products and services in residential homes. Products and services may include LED lights and home weatherization. Incentives are paid directly to the contractor.
Texas Energy Deregulation
Texas is one of many states that continue to benefit from energy choice. Deregulating the electricity market has opened the door to energy suppliers that now have to compete to earn the customer’s business. Energy choice has contributed to lower energy prices across the state while giving consumers more options when it comes to choosing an energy plan. Whether you want to lock in the lowest rate possible or switch to 100% renewable energy, there will be an electric supplier that can meet your needs.
